Italian painter Lavinia Fontana was born #OTD in 1552.

She is best known for her successful portraiture, but also worked in the genres of mythology and religious painting. She is regarded as the first female career artist in Western Europe, as she relied on commissions for her income. Over 100 works by Fontana are documented, but only 32 signed and dated works are known today.

Streetartwall. An enchanting mural with two fantasy figures and a still life in the style of the old masters was sprayed/painted on the wall of a building. The figures are two small gray monsters. A large, bean-like, hairy, fluffy something with small black eyes and a tiny mouth. Next to it is another monster, only smaller. The unusual still life composition with a golden fruit bowl with pears and an apple and a glass carafe is complemented by the appearance of the fluffy figures and framed by a golden picture frame. The two seem to be painting faces on the fruit with paint rollers. Very well painted and very cute monsters.
Info: Senior Papa Chango is a Mexican artist. He lives and paints in Berlin and is the creator of some great murals with dreamlike and fantastic figures.

Finnish violinist and composer Jean Sibelius died #OTD in 1957.

The core of his oeuvre is his set of seven symphonies, which, like his other major works, are regularly performed and recorded in Finland and countries around the world. Streetartwall. The magnificent mural of two figures merging into one another was sprayed onto the exterior wall of a multi-storey tower block. It is a collaboration between two artists with two different styles. The mural is painted in black, gray and white and shows two human figures reaching up to the waist, consisting of lines, arcs and patterns. The figure on the left by the well-known artist "Huariu" is somewhat darker with infinite hatching, patterns and lines. Opposite it is the figure of "Jio", which consists of many curved arches. The heads overlap and cover each other in the mouth, nose and eye area and become one. Fantastic. (Note: It is the very first mural by Jio Tattoo)
Info: "The Merging" depicts a meeting beyond the illusion of identity, of form. Where two merge into one. Where the same and only source recognizes itself in the other, in a different expression of itself. In this phenomena, all boundaries melt, ones identity ceases to be, the ego is no longer.
