16 February 1926 | A German Jewish girl Margot Frank, Anna's older sister, was born in Frankfurt. She and her family went into hiding in Amsterdam. After being arrested they were deported with their parents to Auschwitz. The sisters perished in Bergen-Belsen.

Odin went on an adventure in Amsterdam city center today with some friends. He was very well behaved and a lot of people enjoyed meeting him. The only problem was grumpy old men annoyed that I brought a large dog on a fairly crowded tram (more crowded than I expected on a Sunday outside of tourist season). I'm sorry sir but he's roughly the same size as you and they let you on despite your bad attitude, look at how happy this good boy is to be here sitting politely next to you, he stays

Report from the Amsterdam protest: there are a few hundred people here and two uniformed Dutch cops at a respectful distance very casually chatting with each other while they wait for nothing to hurry up and happen.
A lot of people are tourists (American or otherwise) who happened to see the protest because the US consulate is between several museums. They’re all like “hell yeah I’m stopping for this.” Passing bikes ring their bells (some of them might even be in support and not because Americans are standing on the bike path). I don’t know where someone in Amsterdam found an enormous California bear flag on such short notice
And yes, everyone loves Odin, who randomly decided to put his paws up on my shoulders when we were very visible to the crowd

After hovering around here for a long time as a passive observer, I've decided to be more of an active participant, and try to do the #introduction thingy.
I'm #autistic, so obviously the only good way to introduce myself is by making a long list of topics I think too much about. Besides the standard Fedi topics, I'll be tooting about:
‣ The surreal experience of growing up in the #Baltics in the 90s, and why the last half a decade of geopolitical events unfolding has made my hair go gray.
‣ Deconstructing bad takes about " #EasternEurope " I keep hearing from fellow leftists in the west. About the othering that comes with just being born there, often even in #radical spaces.
‣ A long and confusing journey of understanding my fluid #gender experience, after growing up in one of the more #queer unfriendly regions of #Europe.
‣ Observations from a decade of hedonistic escapism in the #Amsterdam "underground" #techno scene. About performative politics, gatekeeping and classism in the scene, and why we need to make dance music political again.
‣ The absurdity that has been happening since #techbros took over the #psychedelics space.
Unfortunately, I don't have a cat to post pictures of. However, I have made friends with the local murder of #crows, hopefully that works!
