Before I share this reply, I am very familiar with this woman that used to go by Nonsense Free Editor on YouTube. She is anti-Romance, she is pissed smut exists and people like it, and she pushes back against the 'woke writing agenda' every chance she gets.
I detest her. There are no words expansive enough to illustrate how much I dislike her.
This reply is solid, enough. The reply blogger doesn't sound as if they know her work but still, great reply!

The man who wrote "Don't be evil" said he chose it specifically so it would be hard to remove. Paul Buchheit, the engineer who later built Gmail, suggested the phrase at a Google corporate values meeting on July 19, 2001.
Then in early 2018, internal documents leaked showing that Google had signed a Pentagon contract to build AI to analyze drone footage. By April, over 3,000 Google employees had signed a letter to Sundar Pichai demanding the contract be cancelled.
The letter specifically cited "Don't be evil" as the standard the company was failing to meet. Dozens of engineers resigned in protest.
Sometime between late April and early May, the slogan disappeared from the code of conduct's preface.

The enshittification escalates...
I walked away from tech almost four years ago with a case of burnout you could see from space.
The intervening three years have only made me more grateful that I left when I did.
(I wish all my friends and colleagues still chained to the oars had my opportunity.)

in 2016 the king of Saudi Arabia BRAGGED to the Obama administration about how they had become The Whale that moved Wall Street. it’s no coincidence Qatar, long before that quarrel, decided #quantum computing and #AI were at the heart of their 2030 economic development plans.

@autistics
I have this provocative, neurospicy theory about the psychology underpinning the whole #AI gold rush that goes like this. Those who think (or at least profess) that #LLMs are some sort of panacea for humanity - they simply have higher Narcissistic personality trait, causing them to think that way.
When I model the thinking of someone with high narcissistic personality trait, they have no qualms (and feel very entitled) about taking advantage of those they believe to be beneath them (everybody else). This matches very nicely to how whomever recklessly vibe codes, assumes there is an infinite, free supply of labour of people out there (nameless, faceless, expendable "flying monkeys") who will review and correct their bad code. (To the responsible, sober, prudent users of LLMs, who do their own verification and testing of all output, I have no qualms with you, please carry on)
Here's my point: if you've ever spent any amount of time in close proximity with a narcissistic leader, you'll see that _they too_ boldly and toxicly overestimate their competence in the same way. After creating and introducing all sorts of preventable, even predictable, deep architectural and systemic embarrassments in their poorly-formulated, grandiose plans (take for example, Trump invading Iran), they figure it'll be their underlings who clean everything up. Which is to say, everyone else. It's a toxic externalizing of culpability and due diligence, with predictable, avoidable messes to clean up - but not by them.
#Psychology #ActuallyAutistic
I am asking people once again to stop describing #AI using human words and attributes.
AI doesn’t answer—it extrudes plausible output that happens to be right.
AI doesn’t hallucinate—it extrudes plausible output that happens to be wrong.
AI doesn’t have agency—it extrudes plausible output that is consumed by a computer program.
AI doesn’t think—it extrudes plausible output that is fed back into itself for another round.
AI doesn’t create—it extrudes a mixture of its training data.
Remember: the robot is not a person.
PS: I changed “regurgitates” to “extrudes” because it’s less biological and more mechanistic.
PPS: Yes I know “AI” is a misnomer, but it’s what people call these things these days. IMO “LLM” is insufficient to describe GenAI because it excludes diffusion models.
The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Life After AI by Cory Doctorow review – the real price of artificial intelligence: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2026/jun/22/the-reverse-centaurs-guide-to-life-after-ai-by-cory-doctorow-review-the-real-price-of-artificial-intelligence
'A centaur, in automation theory, is someone assisted by a machine, whether using a hearing aid or driving a car. A reverse centaur is someone whose freedom is diminished by the demands of a machine, like an Amazon warehouse worker. The technology of AI theoretically allows every worker to be a centaur, but the business model demands the reverse. Take radiology. In the centaur scenario, a human radiologist works with an AI radiologist to produce more accurate analysis, but that costs the hospital money. In the reverse centaur version, the AI radiologist demotes the surviving humans to the level of results-checking drones who are more likely to make mistakes. Much cheaper, but you see the problem.'
So, *so* tired of getting emails from Indeed about training #ai. No, I will not help you build our eventual replacements.

"Without community to provide the foundations for all our efforts and achievements, even the most antisocial of us is impoverished. Human labour is central to human community: building community is hard work. But the hard work is where the achievement lies, and the achievement makes the community."
