I need something to think about and something to write but I’ve run out of anything remotely possible.
.
I think I said this already, I’m obsessively trying to imagine how to show NT people the trap they’re in, but how to demonstrate, how to prove anything, the whole problem is they can’t see the proof in the first place.
.
I’m looking for an analogy, cases where they can see other species inability to perceive or process, like the way wasps cannot find the open hole they entered the trap by to get out again, the way some herds or flocks can get caught up following one another to nowhere in a circle.
.
Of course it falls apart, you can’t explain that first trait to the wasps or the second one to the turkeys. There’s a world of shit you can’t explain to me too.
.
What I’m trying to express about myself in all this is my own shock at my own awareness of what I can’t seem to explain. I would like to somehow impart how R-worded people seem to be regarding causes, how I hear them say, “human nature,” like the low IQ aliens in Hitchhiker’s say, “Resistance is futile,” or like the gulls in Finding Nemo say, “Mine?”
.
I see that expression, “human nature,” as an anti-intellectual rule, the one and only thing the totalitarian state insists can be said regarding people, any causality is some kind of treason. The slogan for a regime under which no self knowledge is permitted.
.
“I hit them but it doesn’t HURT them,” is R-worded. That’s what hitting is for. If you don’t want to hurt them, why are you hitting them? If it doesn’t hurt them, what’s the point? Where’s the deterrent?
.
It has consensus, but it looks really, really bad to me, logically. Like they don’t understand a word they say. I sprayed water on them, but I didn’t WET them. Something isn’t working there, rather, sense isn’t allowed in to human life.
.
Sorry, FWIW

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1044 , Sunday 06/09/2026
Well that was an utterly unremarkable day.
The repairs to the leak in the hot water system seem to be holding, which is a relief, I’ll put everything back together tomorrow.
We watched the first ep of ‘Star City’ this evening, if you liked ‘For All Mankind’ then I am sure you will enjoy this offshoot!
Final Thoughts.
I wish I had the motivation to do more, but it seems in frighteningly short supply at the moment.
Meanwhile the world spirals towards chaos & there seems to be little one can do to stop it.
When thugs in black tops & balaclava’s can terrorise Dover with impunity but vicars who peacefully protest against genocide are imprisoned as terrorists the world seems to be a place where little makes sense!
Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖

@autistics #ActuallyAutistic AND NOW finally done with the board budget prep documentation…
…assuming the treasurer does not want any more changes tomorrow…
...and now back to my previously scheduled time off that was interrupted a couple of times for this nonsense (see prior posts)
(This is a replacement post from this morning, after I've had more time to reflect.)
Ugh. I had met with a stand-in GP/PCP that I wanted to change to as my provider next year. I thought the visit had gone very well to get a referral to a new GI doctor who can address my acute & urgent chronic conditions, as well as the rest of my GI issues.
That is, until today when his visit notes became available. In it, he directly called me out of control, citing two psychiatric diagnoses since dismissed that shouldn't have even been in my active file, because AuDHD was being misread as those. He also blamed me for the bad luck of a string of GI doctors ill suited in various ways.
Basically, I felt like he was taking the mentality of blaming the victim, with the energies of calling someone a "hysterical female", and that he knew better than what I presented in the visit. And worse than that, I had left the appt feeling like I had a great new doctor for my team, and he had my back. So now I feel misunderstood and my rejection sensitivity dysphoria is in full effect, in that I personally did something wrong. And also I have the opinion of a misguided doctor in my permanent file, which will color other doctor interactions.
Why is it so hard to get doctors that aren't two-faced?

Any other ND folk vibing this? 😆
Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1045 , Monday 07/09/2026
Monday started at crack of sparrows fart, down the gym just after 7am.
Had quite a hard session, both because it required more effort than usual & also because it was unusually busy so my routine was badly disrupted.
Got home had breakfast then did my chores.
Managed to bully myself into cleaning behind the cooker & do some more in the gargantuan task of clearing up the garage to make room for all the stuff from my parents in law’s house.
Final Thoughts.
Motivation was low today but I am glad that I did get a couple of things done.

Discovered an amazing podcast by and with autistic people, about sensory issues, specifically sound. It is brilliant, and sums up everything I would like to convey to non-autistic people. Highly recommend

Really good listening (for UK people, its also on BBC Sounds)
I know people postet about that before, but it should be pointed out more often until it hopefully changes. Please don't integrate unnecessary background music into your videos, especially if you want neurodivergent people to watch them. It's so annoying and it prevented me from watching YouTube videos several times. Stop it.
At 66, first time in an airport autism sensory room. I was looking for quiet and got everything but that.
First observation. Typically, the supports are child oriented.
Second. The room is filled with flashing lights, droning repetitive music, etc. It was too much for me.
The one autistic kid was bouncing off the walls exploring.
If I were the parent I'd want to take the child to a zero sensory room to let them process the airport craziness.
Being late recognized autistic means being more tuned to me.
I need to always have a backup. One of my six sealable containers was loaned out. I was using a few and got irritated only one was left and the other was not returned. I bought three more.
I used to look outward and always try to resolve problems and find workarounds for others. Now I look more inward to solve problems for myself.
Irritants use energy. Remove the irritant, use the energy elsewhere.
Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1042 , Friday 04/09/2026
Friday started early it being a gym day.
An extra task was thrown into the early morning mix with a check on the late evening change of joint fitting on the hot water system. The original fitting turned out to still be weeping when I checked at around 20:30 last night so I had to delve into my plumbing spares & dig out a replacement - sometimes, not often, hoarding anything that doesn’t move away fast enuf pays off!
The gym session went quite well, although I am finding that I am unsure if I have done 2 or 3 sets on the weights … I’m working on the theory that, when in doubt, if my arms are killing me then I’m on the 3rd set!
Breakfast & chores followed then motivation fled & I ended up having a quiet day with very little achieved. I had planned on doing some more in the garage but I could not find a place to start. Such is life at the moment.
Pizza for tea with a another few eps of ‘Babylon 5’ they really do not make TV this good any more!
Final Thoughts.
Another week has passed in the blink of an eye. This year has fled past, although given all that has occurred I’m not sure that is such a bad thing!

me listening to my autistic partners talk about their special interests🥰
In theory… today should be one of the new residential glass recycling collection days.
I am braced and ready with windows and doors closed and never too far away from ear protection.
Last time, they did some glass collection on the scheduled day, the came back later the same day AND next day for more! 😬😅 O.M.G.
Sensory overload is one thing, but SURPRISE sensory overload is a whole other thing. Doing my best now to spot patterns as part of planning to, hopefully, avoid surprises. But/and the glass recycling collectors do not know this. They’re free to change their patterns at any moment!
One of the saddest things to witness online is people going back and forth between identifying as ADHD or autistic because of descriptions of the experience and doubting because of "clinical", extreme or one-sided descriptions.
It's especially sad, when people seem to develop a mental block to understanding themself and connecting with others because of it.

Question for my fellow autistics of the fediverse.
Do you see EVERYTHING when you walk into a room for the first time?
The painting, and the crack in the wall next to it.
The plaid chair in the corner, and the dog hair behind the left front leg.
The vase and the faces. (in the figure-ground, or Rubin, vase picture)
I'm reading Leidy Klotz's new book, In A Good Place and he's saying things like, "we all miss most of the details when we enter a space. We see one thing then everything else dissolves into the background." and I just want to scream at the page.
Or this one:
"Our bodies keep responding to sensory inputs even when our minds have gotten in the habit of ignoring them."
Is it just me, or do our (autistic) minds NEVER get in the habit of ignoring sensory inputs?!
My fifth grader is going through a wringer, which will surely only increase next year, sixth grade, new school. He's undiagnosed-probably-definitely-autistic with a big tender heart. And certain kids (who used to be friends) are doing little things that cut him to the bone, probably(?) because they know they can get a rise out of him. I know what I did to survive school at his age, but I don't know my strategies were best.
How do you advise your kid so as to minimize normie-inflicted trauma and preserve the availability and tenderness of that beautiful ND heart? What strategies do you advise? How do you prevent hiding, masking, toughening and shame?
When I was young, I used to think I'm shy. When I learned the concept of introversion, I thought it fitted me well. Lately I've become more and more sure that neither are true. Now I'm leaning towards the view that what I thought was being shy and introverted is actually a trinity of masking, trauma response, and not knowing how to act around other people. Being autistic.
Are there any good websites, videos or other resources that could help a family understand how to support a senior (i.e. an adult, older age) with Demand Avoidance?
Frustratingly, all the websites I find are about kids or from the point of view of a parent or teacher.
This senior suddenly needs to move house and so I’m looking for simple tips for what the family can do (or not do!) to support them best. I can’t imagine what this person might be going through right now with the DA. They may also be autistic, but I’m focusing on the demand avoidance because it has been a significant issue for this person for decades.
Happy for some tips in replies as well! 💚
Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1046 , Tuesday 08/09/2026
Tuesday has been somewhat of a wasted day.
Up at around 07:30, breakfast & chores.
I had a list of things I wanted to get done but floundered at the first hurdle.
Final Thoughts.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a more productive day.
Part of the problem is that there seems to be little point to any of it these days.

@autistics #ActuallyAutistic more and more performative crap at work is sapping my will to live
@autistics #ActuallyAutistic someone just made the mistake of asking me how i’m doing…
…so i answered honestly as our people do…
…and received the standard “Oh wow. I’ll get back to you.” response…
…when will people learn
@autistics #ActuallyAutistic example of a typical conversation with a passive aggressive allistic at work…
ME: How do we send first class and certified mail from the office?
THEM: While sending typical mail from […] is an easy task, there isn’t a standard process for certified mail at […].
…note the "easy task" never defined in the rest of their email…
…and last time said passive aggressive allistic was asked this they referred the asker to me…
