@autistics #ActuallyAutistic admit it, you've said this or some variation thereof more than once
actuallyautistic
@autistics #ActuallyAutistic you don't owe anyone a justification for your life
@autistics #ActuallyAutistic it's newsletter day again...
…and as always, i've been left a steaming pile of inaccurate and misleading bullshit world salad…
…and since i think words actually matter...
…i get to waste several hours of my weekend to reformulate this into coherence and value to our constituents…
…but yes, fellow outgoing board member, i am over extended, can’t imagine why
@autistics #ActuallyAutistic i thought everyone did this by default?

@autistics we cut the tag off one of our shirts today and holy shit we feel so much better, why didn't we do this sooner 😅

@actuallyautistic @autistics #ActuallyAutistic i've been watching the Mad About you 2019 revival season and the attached quote had some serious resonance…
…and it was by far one of the most uncomfortable 4 minutes i've ever watched
OK, Imma try to teach you all something about evolution, because I fancy myself a theorist.
.
obviously, your first line of adaptive defense in a dynamic environment, is your brain.
.
The climate changes, you don’t wait for evolution, you think of ways to keep cool first, thinking is adapting, right? If you didn’t have that brain, it would be straight up fast and brutal darwinism, you might dehydrate the first hotter summer, trying to cross a desert you always could.
.
Probably the most active evolution happens there, on the front line, in our brains, and that’s not plainly visible. My idea is that some time after the latest coating of ice, human things changed quickly and not so’s you’d know by looking at them, things changed in human brains, in what has become the majority sort, the sort in charge. That sometime after the ice, human brains started adapting, evolving a new type of brain that is adapted and adapting further for the human created environment that most humans live in.
.
Perhaps it’s true that since we make everything for these bodies, we will see a pause in the skeletal changes, but we do not make a world for what was the human brain, we drift into new and horrific social environments and force the brain to adapt. That isn’t stopping.
.
It’s half of the human noise, Adapt, get stronger, keep up, fall in line. I’m not asking, I’m telling you. Resilience is adaptation. There is nothing in evolutionary theory that says a steady pressure means evolution stops; it is exactly steady pressure that causes change, steady change.
.
So the majority human type’s brain is increasingly adapted for the human social environment and by their social orientation they deem that the socially unadapted are “divergent,” - this means divergent from their evolutionary trajectory, not from anything else, and if we zoom out and take a longer perspective we can see that is the majority of humans who are divergent with respect to the rest of life on Earth this way, that they have parted ways from the larger community of life and that this is the very definition of asking to be selected out.
.
Let’s take a break. 😇💜

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 768 , Thursday 04/12/2025
Thursday started stupidly early, Mrs S got up around 06:30 & despite the fact that I had had almost no sleep last night I got up to make her breakfast.
It’s been a busy day, I volunteered to let relatives know about our sad news while Mrs S went to her mums house to start tracking down the important documents we will need in the near future.
I’ve also been trying to get source an engineer to come & sort out our boiler - I have failed royally on that mission.
Our go to plumber did break cover just before 1pm with a text to say he would call us later but he hasn’t.
So tomorrow, nearly a week after the I found the fault, I have to start looking for a replacement plumber - I shall try the neighbours & try & get a recommendation in the morning. Friday is a pro day for this but needs must.
There is an emergency option, apparently Vaillant will come out & repair an out of warranty boiler - for a not insubstantial fee, but we may have to go down that route.
Final Thoughts.
I’m so tired, & anxiety levels are off the graph … I need to make some progress with this flipping boiler tomorrow or I will be hiding under the chair this time tomorrow!
Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖

@actuallyautistic @autistics #ActuallyAutistic another meeting, another “retreat" planning discussion, another “othering” by the mob...
… at least 3 people in said meeting are aware i have an accommodation that impacts in-person participation in said “retreat" and yet…
…the mantra is all in-person, in-person, in-person…
…because as usual, only the feelings of the neurotypicals count
@autistics #ActuallyAutistic always remember and never forget…
@actuallyautistic @autistics #ActuallyAutistic in a Zoom meeting and had to go off camera since i am not having a good day executive function-wise…
…struggling with sharing screen as i’m the admin support
@autistics #ActuallyAutistic no she fucking didn’t…
…and by Secretary Brainworm logic, that’s why i’m autistic
@actuallyautistic @autistics #ActuallyAutistic
Ok ... wait ...
Just saw a video clip and the content is irrelevant, but the tag was "autistic kids always ask permission" ... and this brought a memory back from when I was like 4 or 5 and asking my mother for permission to play with one toy or another ... she had to work to get me to believe that if a toy was mine and I was playing by myself, I automatically had permission.
Is this really an autistic trait? If so it's yet another "gee, maybe there were signs after all" ...
Watching the same show over-and-over again is one way I regulate the autistic side of my brain. But the ADHD side sure gets bored sometimes.
Do you watch any shows on repeat?

.
just a quirk of my version of
history and neurodiversity would be that if Allistic people and their god are new and Geezuz was not one of them, but an OG Autistic, then the Son is older than the Father 😀
.
I mean, everyone agrees law is new, so the forgiveness is old?
.
NVM, I’m in the ether 😀

For the first time in months, I forced myself to get off the f—ing computer and go for a f—ing walk, where I met this little guy...
If at all possible, go outside sometime...
...your brain may stay in its spiral
...you may not notice any beauty
...but you may just encounter a random #cat in the middle of Amish farmland (who has no respect for it not being #Caturday) and be reminded for a moment that life...life is a thing

@autistics #ActuallyAutistic so bonus short film (screws up my data order) and an ending to the main film that reminds me of Boxing Helena…
…which when i saw it was described as the “unsexiest erotica ever made”…
…and that was underselling it
@actuallyautistic @autistics #ActuallyAutistic with all due respect to Ms. Schwartzberg, “being direct, clear and setting boundaries never “gives the narcissist less fodder to manipulate the narrative.”" in my experience...
...quite the contrary, it just makes them more hostile https://flipboard.com/@newyorktimes/health-lkpsa1qsz/-/a-BsUPmtQkSSmfdLv6Dw0f3w%3Aa%3A3195393-%2F0
@actuallyautistic @autistics #ActuallyAutistic the issue of professional headshots came came up at my summer nonproifit board retreat and was curious what thoughts are on the issue.

Does anyone know of a resource with videos of various medical procedures/tests, with the aim of familiarising patients with what to expect? I've found some that are for training/educating medical professionals, but nothing so far with the patient in mind. If it helps, specifically what I want to show my kiddo is what a vascular ultrasound for pelvic vein compression involves - I've had one myself and described it, but I think a video would help more.
