@autistics #ActuallyAutistic but when i get back up, more often than not, i get told i’m being difficult…
It's 8 o'clock on Monday evening in Wales🏴 ...
Everyone okay ?
Everyone survived day 1 of 5 ?
Anyone need a week break to get over day 1 ?
Anyone else enjoying the fact it's dark by 5pm ?
For that reason I am so critical of media presenting autistic people as savants.
You don't have to be a genius, a celebrity, exploit your special interest for capitalism, you don't have to be useful to deserve kindness, patience and love.

If anyone else has had this experience of their kid's (or their own) blood sugar* suddenly being all wobbly during puberty, can you please reassure me that it won't last forever?? 😭
*Not 100% sure that's what is happening but it's the best theory we have - he has growth spurts and it seems impossible to get enough fuel into him to keep him going without these spells of feeling cold/brain shutting down. Sugar doesn't help, only complex carbs + protein.
Autism itself is one of my long-running special interests, so I read a lot of news, articles, and research on the topic. There were quite a few headlines in my news feed on the topic today, and after once again shaking my head in disgust at the pathologizing language of the researchers -- injection of value judgments and assumptions of superiority or "correct" ways of functioning -- it struck me:
>>> I don't remember the last time I made it through an entire article or paper on autism that *didn't* pathologize us, outside of articles actually written by openly neurodivergent authors. <<<
It's like the horrific racist tropes from 150 years ago. They just *assume* superiority, and everything else is built on that. It's absolutely disgusting, but nobody hears us when we tell them. I regularly email the authors and ask them to reconsider the impact of their words and assumptions, but I never get a response. The scientific community is every bit as intransigent as everyone else.
@autistics #ActuallyAutistic while i do prefer tagless now, the few i have that are tagged are not too bad anymore https://mstdn.social/@autism101/115544203902548089
Today I heard that a psychiatrist commented my diagnostics letter for a mutual patient with „usually ASD diagnoses are given by neurotypical experts“ (meant: rather than by autistic experts like me). Wtf?

@autistics
Let’s talk tags on clothing. I hate them and they annoy me to no end. And even if I cut them off, the tiny bit remaining always manages to touch me and I hate it.
Do tags bother you?

@autistics #ActuallyAutistic in today's #DyspraxiaWins, i was trying to use this recent purchase to sweep up some loose kitty litter and was having trouble sweeping the litter into the pan
I count this as creative thing so i thought to share.
In the end of each year, I like many others, get a calendar for next year.
What follows is an intense period of hyper focus and colour explosion. It is not bullet journalling exactly because the calendar I use has months and weeks and dates and so on already. But the decorating, ah.
I thought calendars dont work on me, but it was that boring, white, premade calendars just didn’t caught my attention.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 776 , Friday 12/12/2025
Friday started around 07:15 after a most excellent nights sleep!
I intended on having a totally lazy day but I found any number of little jobs to do this morning.
Mrs S was busy too & things have progressed apace, we now have a provisional date in early January for the funeral, it seems it’s a …. busy time of year (popular seems like the wrong word entirely) for such things. Other arrangements are also falling into place.
However after lunch of beans on toast we settled down to an extended Downton fest!
We ordered a pizza & a burger from one of our favourite takeaways tonight, but they failed miserably, it took then more than an hour to deliver & then only because we chased it, when it arrived it was cold & my burger was not at all what I ordered.
If we ever order from them again it will be online (they are on Just Eat) so at least we can reflect our displeasure in a public forum!
Final Thoughts.
Well it was a good day until it wasn’t - the shambles of the takeaway delivery & then, as we watched ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’ & we hit the sad bit near the end it was a little too soon, a little too fresh & we had to have a moment or ten.
We are watching the last of the movies tomorrow, I’ve not seen it & I sincerely hope they all make it to the end of the Grand Finale! (No spoilers please, it is what it is & I’m sure we will cope if the worst happens!)
Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖

Really need to get to bed before midnight tonight, or I turn into a gremlin or something 🤷.
I need to start reclaiming my mornings as it would be nice to get to about lunch time & actually have accomplished some thing. Just simple things maybe but things like a bit of house cleaning, going for a walk, some reading & maybe a little bit of writing & drawing.
Maybe it could boost my confidence & make it possible to volunteer somewhere, even if the local volunteering options are only charity shop work.

@autistics #ActuallyAutistic at the end of the episode, a colleague told Stephens she thought he had depressive disorder…
…based on his general manner after 1+ seasons PLUS this, i thought ASD for sure

Hey! Do we have an opinion about The Autism Wellbeing Alliance?
They are organising a Talk about wellbeing (via my company) and I don't know if they are trustworthy or ABA-leaning kind of group.
Anyone with knowledge?
