At my daughter's school, 6th grader's do an "exihibition" in late January. Each child makes a booth in the school gymnasium where they present the results of their year-long research project, in #Japanese and English. The child chooses the topic. Last week I attended the exhibition, and one girl did hers on the #abacus. She herself has been doing abacus since she was small and is quite the expert. Her enthusiasm was infectious. Apparently doing the abacus is great for the brain! #parenting
