读过 Papaya Salad 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
A smooth and easy read of a light-hearted life story with a very detailed recipe of papaya salad and good illustrations.
We're all sinners for letting this happen in our time.
but we can do something. we must do something.
读过 It's Not an All Night Fair 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
"When the train travels from Jakarta to Blora, I recalled visions where a sheep lay dead from bomb attacks in its pen. Its eyes were fixed to the sky. I recalled soldiers fell from gunfire, comrades and brothers. I think of its eyes and and blood, and the sheep was my father."
The journey of a son coming home by the deathbed of his father, who worked and sacrificed for the independence of his country, only to see it falling from atrocities and corruptions. The father was arrested many times during the independence war and worked undercover for the guerillas as a school inspector for the Dutch. After the independence of Indonesia he felt sick of the political games and remained an educator and remained one for many years until his health deteriorated and called for the return of his son from Jakarta. Nothing could help his health, not fish soup, medicine, nor psychics. Only ice can ease the pain of his throat. Eventually he died and his sons called out loud for the returning of his soul and then a funeral was held.
"Why isn't life an all-night fair. I wish life is an all-night fair." It's a touching read to learn about Indonesian history and the customs of Javanese people with subtle emotions between son, father, and their families.
Southeast Asia: A Very Short Introduction 🌕🌗🌑🌑🌑
比较适合对东南亚没有提前认知的人读,没有什么有价值的观点除了mandala(没有看到这个概念特别有价值的地方,德国和法国可不可以被称作mandala of Berlin/Paris)。
