#当小镇做题家来到名校 #做题还能改变命运吗 对「小镇做题家」的研究,来自谢爱磊感受到的切身的困惑。那是2013年,他发现,那段时间,公众对于农村学子上名校的讨论往往止步于一些极端事件,有轰动性的比如马加爵故意杀人案,还有一些名校农村学子,因为沉迷游戏直接辍学。在这些新闻里,农村学生学业跟不上,还有严重的心理问题。但几年过去,某天,谢爱磊突然发现,从农村考入名校的学生们又有了一个新名字,叫「小镇做题家」。他觉得奇怪,怎么一开始说他们不会做题、不会学习,后来又变成了擅长做题,甚至「只会做题」?
如今,谢爱磊是华南师范大学教育科学学院教授,曾经,他也是一个「小镇做题家」,出生于安徽的一个村子,中考时第一次进城,大学来到上海,而后去了香港、英国剑桥,「做题」给他打开了广袤的空间,却也给了他很多困惑。
开始对农村学子的系统研究后,在上海、广州、武汉和南京,他分别挑选出了4所「双一流」高校,向2000名学生发放了调查问卷,并持续追踪了其中约60名农村籍学生。从2014年开始,5年时间,谢爱磊做了三轮访谈,追踪这些学生大一、大三以及毕业后的生活状况。
他的研究数据表明,农村籍学生学业成绩并不显著低于城市学生,新闻中出现的刻板退学情况,只是极端个例。
更大的问题出现在融入名校这个过程中:刚开学不敢加入社团,低年级没能出校门逛逛公园、去电影院,到了毕业前夕,就业方向尚不明晰。这种没有准备和提前计划的局促感充斥在农村学生大学生活的每一年,甚至是走向社会后。
这让谢爱磊想到自己的求学之路。2000年,他考入华东师范大学,来到上海。对他来说,学业压力并非那么难以应对,但全新的世界让他感到压力:他第一次知道羽毛球场地中间还有一道网子,男生可以帮女生拧开瓶盖。他意识到大学和城市有着不同于老家的规则,但这个规则是什么,只能靠自己摸索。而在这些晚他十几年进入高校的农村学生身上,他看到了同样的茫然。他也发现,这并非个体的问题,而是一个人群所面临的结构性困境。
谢爱磊把访谈到的故事和研究写成了一本书,今年五月,《小镇做题家:出身、心态与象牙塔》出版。这不再是一个新鲜的话题,有人质疑他,书里的内容少了「理论雄心」,语气过于通俗,大部分篇幅也是引语转述。在和我的对话中,谢爱磊没有回避这些评价。定下这个标题,他曾经犹豫过,但他也更希望这本书是面向公众的写作。在「小镇做题家」标签的背后,谢爱磊想要传达的,是一种群体的力量,能让尚处在自我拉扯中的年轻人们感受到自己并不孤独。另一方面,跨越不同的环境也给人比较和反思的空间,而这正蕴含着改变的力量。
生活在一个竞争为主导议题的社会中,每个人的成长过程,都要或多或少经历「做题」和「探索」的拉扯。相比于传统的「寒门出贵子」式励志故事,当代「小镇做题家」们在融入现代生活中的情感困扰,其实是这个时代生命流动故事的另一面,二者相互存在,相互干扰,都不能被另一个掩盖掉。
