My feelings are a bit ambivalent toward this one. On one hand it’s cheesy as hell and kind of a product of its time in terms of straightforward-as-fuck horror movies… at the same it’s also as effective as it gets and doesn’t even try to be anything more than a thoroughly fun and kinda self-conscious guilty pleasure type of flick. In the end, the positive aspects won me over and it’s nice to see that Sam Raimi had not lost his knack for entertaining genre cinema after his first venture into blockbuster territory. Good stupid fun, just don’t expect anything too deep or smart about it.
