a review of 蓝白红三部曲之红
Most of the director's work i respect more than i enjoy it. His three colors trilogy has never disappointed though and with this one, all of his major traits come together beautifully... the cinematigraphy is expressive and elaborate without ever becoming too flashy. There's a good deal of empathy for the film's protagonists and - kind of Kieślowski's trademark - multiple moral conflicts at the core of the story, revealing deeper truths about the human condition.
