Damn, that was fun. Went into this expecting more of a dud, as Buster Keaton reportedly wasn’t particularly fond of this film himself. And yeah, this isn’t quite up there with masterpieces like Our Hospitality, The General or Sherlock Jr. It’s relies on a rather conventional storyline and doesn’t quite live up to the imagination and coherent vision of his very best work. Nonetheless it’s an incredibly funny, thoroughly entertaining ride, a bit like a throwback to some of his earlier shorts. You kind of expect Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle to apear and rough things up any minute now.
