a review of 仁心与冠冕

A mighty good fun time, this oldschool satire about the cutthroat world of british royalty, albeit one that doesn't hold up perfectly in this day and age. I'm sure this was kinda risque in its day but from today's perspective, its portrayal of the high and mighty feels way too tame, almost flattering at times and a protagonist seeking to claim his birthright of royal privilege by murderous means will have a hard time resonating with today's audiences. Further to the detriment of the whole thing is a sorry attempt at a plot twitst or cliffhanger in the final scene, whose setup is just way too obvious - you kinda see that one coming from five minutes into the film.
