Grease (1978)

I was a kid when Grease was released. I remember the hype. In those days, you had these major, intensively marketed and promoted blockbusters every now and then, destined to become classics, accompanied by lucrative merchandise. It was the time before you had a million media choices through internet, before everything was ultra-transient. Rewatching Grease was pleasant nostalgia. Lighthearted fun as it was still possible in the naive 1970s. John Travolta was in his best shape, young, charismatic, agile and pre-Scientology. There's something about Olivia Newton-John that gives me an uncanny feeling though. Some of Grease's songs are catchy classics, while some other songs are downright bad, but that doesn't ruin the fun.
