Veronica Guerin is a sad true story about a daring journalist who delved into the Irish drug criminality of the mid-1990s. The film was produced and directed by big shot US film buffs, which is its weak point in my humble opinion, because when Hollywood tries to recreate something, they resort to hackneyed cliches and formulaic storytelling methods that kill the impression of authenticity, no matter how hard they try not to do that. For example, please, for once don't use traditional Irish music in a film about Ireland, no Irish choir boy solo, and no Sinéad O'Connor! In short: I think a woman of this stature deserves a better biopic.
