The third and most recent film by the belgian genre auteur duo of Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani might be their most accessible effort to date without compromising on their unique and eccentric vision, this time drawing less influence from old giallo flicks rather than spaghetti western and seventies italian crime thrillers. The storyline here is convoluted yet making some sense on a rational level in comparison to their more dream-logic driven previous flicks, setting up the film's premise in just a few short minutes with the remainder of the movie playing out like a single hypnotic slow-burn neo-western showdown. Damn, i hope these two are gonna continue injecting genre cinema with their singular brand of trippy oddball aesthetics.
