a review of 利刃出鞘
Seems people kinda lost their shit about this one a while ago. My watchlist plays by its own rules though, so i finally came to watch *Knives Out* a year or two late. I certainly get the appeal - here we have a polished, well-written and executed mainstream success, a black comedy that cleverly plays on old whodunnit tropes and isn't part of any major franchise (yet... be prepared to grow tired of it fairly soon though, as two sequels are already in the works). This film only wants the audience to have a great time and it succeeds in that regard, although for my taste, the feelgood-vibes where human warmth and compasson always prevail over the wicked are a bit too much and way too divorced from reality for me to not get distracted by it.
