The Lobster is an absurdist, metaphore-filled story about the hurdles of finding true love. The humor is pleasantly black and dry, and at times pretty cruel. I found the first half of the movie fascinatingly original, but in the second half the novelty of the absurdism gradually wore off, and the story started to drag, until I longed for the end. Colin Farrell establishes a great character — a geeky version of his character in the second season of True Detective.
