a review of 夜长梦多
With old noir flicks, it has become a common occurence for me realizing i've already seen them in the past but not noticing until i actually rewatch them. Same with this one, possibly the most stereotypically noir of all film noir - and i mean that in all the best ways, from the deliciously sarcastic, smart-talking private investigator to the scheming rich femme fatales and the perfectly bittersweet, morally ambiguous ending, this is the film i would recommend to anyone asking what this only retrospectively defined "genre" was all about.
