Hell or High Water (2016)It's hard to avoid at least some comparison with the Coen brothers' No Country for Old Men when reviewing Hell or High Water, but that's a compliment. Hell or High Water is a great and grim reflection of poverty in Texas, and an ironic statement against bankers, comparing them to their robbers. The acting is solid, and the cinematography beautifully portrays the desolate Texan countryside, with a great eye for composition, accompanied by some well-fitting country songs to complete the atmosphere. I'd describe Hell or High Water as an enjoyable tribute to Sam Peckinpah, combining No Country for Old Men with a touch of The Blues Brothers, because what I also liked about Hell or High Water is that it contains a pleasant amount of humor. I had a few good laughs throughout the film, which really completed the enjoyment, and kept the film from being dreary.
