Cinema Paradiso (1988)Cinema Paradiso had been on my watchlist for a very long time, and it turned out to be everything I hoped for from such a much-praised classic. The melancholy of childhood memories is captured so masterfully, the characters are so vivid and likeable, and the atmosphere of mid-century Italy is so convincingly recreated. The creators managed to create a credible alternate reality, which is the highest achievement a filmmaker can reach. And of course, maestro Morricone's beautiful score added a lot to the experience. Cinema Paradiso is a timeless tribute to every filmmaker and film lover, ever.
