a review of 新蝙蝠侠

Batman has always been my favorite comic hero, for several reasons: his dark world, his inner demons, his lack of superpowers, and his fascinating enemies. Creating another Batman film was a risky endeavor. The creators had to face some tough competition, particularly from The Dark Knight (2008), featuring the late Heath Ledger's magnificent Joker portrayal. But The Batman didn't disappoint. Clearly inspired by David Fincher's Se7en (1995) as well as The Dark Knight, The Batman is pleasantly gloomy and subdued. The casting was also great. [Spoiler alert.......] I loved Paul Dano as The Riddler, and if my wife hadn't looked it up I would never have guessed that Colin Farrell was The Penguin, haha. Last but not least, using Nirvana's Something in the Way as a part of the soundtrack was also a great touch.
