The Secret Life of Words (2005)The Secret Life of Words is an original, touching drama that takes place on an oil rig. The performances are solid, and the exposed subject matter — war trauma — is unpleasant to hear but important to be told. I liked the melancholic atmosphere of isolated lost souls on the oil platform. There are a few ingredients that kept me from giving this a higher rating though. For example, the high-pitched inner child or imaginary friend (?) voice of the main character was a superfluous, infantile touch that slightly thwarted the film's seriousness.
