a review of 生命之书

I hesitated watching The Book of Life for a while, because the title made me fear the movie would be too mawkish. But what a stunning visual ride it turned out to be. The stylization of everything — characters, scenery, props, the works — is so marvellously daring, detailed and colorful, it gives a new meaning to the word eye-candy. The movie's pace is so rapid, it makes you feel like you're being dragged along in a whirlwind, in a good, thrilling sense. Being a 3D designer, I know how elaborate this production must have been to realize, and I take off my sombrero for the creators.
