Not quite as ugly to the core as i expected this to be in terms of themes and messages. Rather, Fellini's Casanova figure portrayed by Donald Sutherland comes off as a tragicomic satire in a film that sadly plays out like a cheap cliche of a fellini flick itself. A shrill carnival spectacle with flashes of visual brilliance and beauty that simply aren't enough to belie the movie's lack of soul and meaning, the utter failure to tell a compelling story.
