Quite a disappointment from Nobuhiko Obayashi here. The film sort of amounts to a 90-minute commercial for Kawasaki motorcycles set in an ultra-kitschy world made up of ancient biker-, yakuza- and youth movie tropes. As always you can sense Obayashi's love for the filmic language of his youth but this film falls way short of reviving that nostalgia, lacking both a substantial plot and a discernable character arc for its leading pair, never going beyond the most stereotypical beats of the genre.
