i appreciated how despite being a bit of a do-over, it kept a lot of the themes from the last two episodes. some of the visceral body animation was pretty cool and i enjoyed debating with my partner if Shinji died at the end or just turned into soup and came back again i've heard a few people describe Anno as a misanthrope but i really don't think that's the case.
