Frankenstein (2025)

okay i know i have made this joke multiple times in the last few weeks but i promised myself i wouldn't watch any more body horror while recovering from surgery and then... well all my trans friends liked this movie and i thought it would be a low exertion outing. i brought my mastectomy pillow, and the ice pack pocket is great for skittles. but anyway yeah i can see why trans people like it and also i couldn't stop thinking about my sutures and all that stuff at the same time, like some horrible personal metatextual element. not to get too gorey but i've got some nerve endings waking up which makes it hard to sit for this long. film enrichment, and i didn't even pay for the fancy seats. anyway. the costume and set design were particularly great and the costumes were cool enough to quiet my textile degree brain about things not being particularly historically accurate. like yeah i am here for elizabeth's outfit making her look like kind of a bug as a nod to her bug-interests, fine. i liked this version of the creature a lot and had a lot of feelings about familial rejection and monstrousness one might expect in a trans read of the themes here. i liked this adaptation quite a bit
