a review of 日出英烈祠

Refn takes you on a spiritual trip back to the days when mankind wasn't distracted by the noise of modern day nonsense. Valhalla Rising is both grim and beautiful, with a meditative atmosphere that makes you experience the film like a feverish dream. Mikkelsen's powerful silence throughout the movie elevates him to a fascinating, mystical figure. This is undoubtedly one of those polarizing 'either you love it or you hate it' movies. I found it well worth my time.
