Night Tide - Review

Otherworldly. This landmark of classy b-movie filmmaking is spinning a dreamlike modern fairytale with some psychological horror overtones. Permeated with a deeply melancholic atmosphere that's been obviously crafted using modest means, the film's slight shortcomings - like some of the acting feeling a bit too restrained and wooden - only helps to convey the surreal tone and express the alienation and loneliness of its main protagonists. A bit like an unintentional proto-mumblecore flick fused with naval fantasy and a hint of hitchcockian psychoanalysis.
