a review of 鼹鼠
Another of those films i've seen ages ago and clearly wasn't ready for it - though with this one, i'm not sure if you can be really. Alejandro Jodorowsky's cult classic acid western still strikes me as pretty much indecipherable and while still being a one-of-a-kind psychedelic experience, i wonder if people credit this one with a lot more depth than it deserves, as all the biblical structure and symbolism strike me as kinda shallow, surface-level stylistic choices. One thing the film gets right about its biblical allegories though is the sheer savagery, brutality, absurdity and contradictions of the mythical yarn being woven here.
