Opening Night (1977)One train wreck after another. I understand that some people like watching a demolition derby, but after two and a half hours of continuous crashing it's just numbing. There are times that I flip-flop between thinking Ben Gazzara is a great actor and not that great. Sometimes he seems to be the same character as in The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976). The same with Gena Rowlands. At first the obnoxious character flaws seem like interesting acting choices, but eventually it crosses a line, jumps the shark, and it's just grating.
