a review of 十三号星期五2

As a youngster I devoured gore horror films, including the slasher subgenre. I saw Friday the 13th part 1 and 2 on VHS videotape back in the 1980s, after viewing part 3 with colored 3D glasses in a local theatre when it premiered. Out of nostalgia I decided to rewatch the Friday the 13th films in 2017. I think part 1 is reasonably o.k., regarded in a contemporary low-budget pulp context. But part 2 is really trashy. Even the camp value couldn't save me from yawning. Harry Manfredini's characteristic Friday the 13th soundtracks are still brilliant though. That needs to be mentioned. I guess I'll also try part 3 before deciding if it's better to leave the rest of this childhood memory untouched in its 1980s grave.
