Dirty Harry (1971)

It had been many years since I last saw Dirty Harry, and I only remembered a few things. Rewatching it in 2024, I was impressed by how the film has survived the test of time. Dirty Harry has a level of realism, cynicism and grittiness that was probably a reflection of the new decade back then, also considering that the similarly realistic The French Connection was released in the same year. The charismatic young Clint Eastwood was fittingly cast for the role of Dirty Harry, and as far as I’m concerned, the killer is in the all-time top 20 of psychotic villains, alongside iconic characters like Dennis Hopper’s Frank Booth in Blue Velvet (1986).
