a review of 宠儿

I started watching The Favourite, but I'm a bit allergic to posh period films, like I am a bit allergic to musicals. I liked the wide-angle shots, which gave the film a painterly feel. But I got the feeling that Lanthimos wanted to create a satirical masterpiece a bit too eagerly. I'm not completely anti-period, so to speak. I do sympathize with women regarding their monthly burden. But bad jokes aside, I loved maestro Kubrick's Barry Lyndon, but on the other side I disliked the hysterical Amadeus (1984). Anyway, I've stopped the film pretty soon, because I wasn't in the right mood for it, but as I enjoyed the other films of Lanthimos I might give it another try in the future.
