Lost Cos - Review

Snowdance Independent Film Festival. While i kinda did expect this one to be campy, i wasn't fully prepared for this kind of full-on b-movie schlockiness. As if Tommy Wiseau were an almost semi-competent director but kept all the misguided decisions and lack of understanding of basic human behavior - colliding with some kind of PG13-rated John Waters bastardization and an unsuccessful attempt at emulating Sin City on a shoestring budget. No, this ain't an outright incompetent movie but it struggles in every single department to a fascinating degree. At first i thought this was self-conscious satire but as the film went on i wasn't so sure anymore. When finally some telling technical faux-pas showed up like audio glitches and obvious framerate conversion issues in - but not limited to - every single drone shot, i knew we're dealing with an honest to god good bad movie here, a puzzling and unintentionally surreal ride constantly straddling the line between ridiculous and laughable. To make the experience complete, the thing got projected in its original english language with thus utterly redundant english subtitles, which drifted seconds out of sync over time. God bless indie festivals for the glorious amateur hour that they are. In other words: A perfect midnight movie experience! It wasn't good but it certainly wasn't boring. This is some redlettermedia-ready shit right there!
