Kung Fury (2015)My Kung Fury experience can be divided into three stages: 1: Acclimatization. The second the short movie starts, you're thrown right into the fast-paced action. I needed to tune in for a few minutes. 2: Fun. Kung Fury managed to cram a shitload of cheesy 1980s cliches and imagery into a mere 31 minutes. Having grown up in the 1980s, several scenes made me laugh out loud, especially the caricatural retro tech scenes with the old school hacker character. 3: Saturation. During the second half of Kung Fury, the novelty of the endless 1980s references and one-liners wears off, and the plot slides into randomness and repetition. Overall I enjoyed the Kickstarter-backed Kung Fury, and encourage more crowd-funded support of indie filmmakers.
