This Dario Argento vehicle, which has been long considered semi-lost (with only video transfers known to exist for a long time), is among his oh-so-slightly more subdued work - less visually bold and showy than, say, *Deep Red* or *Suspiria*, it is still a beautiful sight to behold though.

The italian dub for this is a decent one, certainly preferable over the english dub and thankfully, the subtitles on the german bluray disc i've been watching match up most of the time (although they're most likely some sort of "dubtitles", based on either the english or german dub).

As usual with old giallo, you better double down on your suspension of disbelief and treat the film like more of a dreamlike fairytale kind of experience, not expecting too much in terms of a logical plot and reasonable human behavior. For an Argento flick, this on takes on an almost lighthearted tone at times and fittingly, Bud Spencer makes an appearance here.

Sadly, the whole thing also suffers from some rather homophobic cliches played for laughs, although with these flicks, you've gotta be almost thankful for any portrayal of gay characters that isn't downright hateful... This one isn't quite that. Just very outdated, misrepresentative and nowadays wouldn't be considered acceptable outside of, well... your avarage crappy Adam Sandler flick.
