a review of 漂流

Set in a post-apocalyptic environment, Flow follows the adventures of a small group of different animals trying to survive, with a cat in the lead role. I found it refreshing to watch animated animals that don’t talk for a change, but just make the sounds you’d expect. The movement and behavior of the animals was impressively convincing, and the nature environments were beautiful. As a long-time Blender 3D user and former Technical Artist for the Blender Foundation, I was pleased and proud to know that Flow was entirely made using Blender. An impressive achievement. On a slightly critical note though, after about 45 minutes of watching animals being trapped in a small sailboat, I found myself getting bored. I also thought the ending was unexpectedly abrupt, and later read that there’s an epilogue after the end credits, which was not obvious at all. All in all, Flow is an impressive, praiseworthy project.
