The Conversation (1974)"How would I know that he loved me?" this man is so palpably lonely that i had to pause the movie for a little bit i think i'm going to keep coming back to this but i really liked the part where this secretive man dreams about shouting his story to this woman he's only known through surveilling her. when he does try and connect with someone he is betrayed and i love the metatext of the looping recording overlapping the different scenes. it feels a lot like when i make synth patches with a found piece of audio or something and hearing it over and over changes the context also i should not have watched The Pervert's Guide to Cinema first because i kept expecting Slavoj Zizek to walk into the bathroom i've watched a movie where a grown man gets tucked into bed two days in a row??
