Terrifier (2018)Terrifier brought me back to my years as a youngster in the 1980s, when I was a regular visitor of the nearby video rental store, and devoured their supply of gore horror movies. Terrifier is a successful tribute to just about every 1980s pulp horror cliché, starting with a plot featuring sexy girls being chased by a disguised psychopath in an abandoned environment, but the film still manages to be tense and even unpredictable at times. Some of the gore scenes are quite sick, but so over the top that they somehow remain bearable in a very uncanny way, which is complemented by the pitch-black humor of the psychopathic mime clown's gestures. I also really liked the soundtrack and color grading, which considerably added to the atmosphere.
