Harvey - Review

I've watched this several times and I'm always entertained by the writing and the acting. It's such a compelling portrayal of a man who's so sure of himself marching at ninety degrees from everyone else in the world, and confident in the essential goodness of everyone he encounters. This last time I also paid close attention to his sister played by Josephine Hull and the frenetic energy she brings to this film. What touches me the most is how this sneakily becomes something much more than just a farcical comedy, but points to a kinder, more humane way to look at people who aren't conforming to the norm. I do hope this old movie is gaining a new audience from being mentioned in John Green's book The Anthropocene Reviewed, and hope people will be making it one of their favorites from now on. It's available on archive.org to view for free (the colorized version) so the price is right for anyone with internet.
