a review of 美女与野兽

Continuing my journey of revisiting old school Disney animation, today I decided to go for an old favorite of mine: Beauty and the Beast. After Disney's magic had gathered dust in the 1980s, Glen Keane managed to revive it with his inspired version of The Little Mermaid, followed by Beauty and the Beast. I saw it in an Amsterdam movie theater back in 1991, and loved it. I remember being in love with Belle. Yeah, those adolescent hormones... ☺️ Viewing it again in 2021, I still very much enjoyed it. I love the caricatural characters, such as Gaston, and I've still got a soft spot for Belle. Glen Keane sure knows how to tell an entertaining story while managing to avoid too much sappiness.
