a review of 大盗查理

Charley Varrick turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Don 'Dirty Harry' Siegel proved his directorial experience with this crime flick featuring an ingenious plot and cool 1970s characters. Before seeing this film, I predominantly associated Walter Matthau with quirky comedy roles, but he is very cool as Charley Varrick. Lalo Schifrin completes the impression with another one of his great musical scores. I'm pretty sure Tarantino has seen this film in his younger years, and I also think this kind of 1970s crime movie inspired Fargo season 2.
