Bridge of Spies (2015)Bridge of Spies was created by such movie industry heavyweights (Spielberg, Coen brothers) that it almost couldn't be bad. And it was a good, solid film indeed, with the added dimension of being based on true events. The 1950s Cold War atmosphere is very well done, the acting is good, the story build-up, art direction, nearly everything reflects cinematic craftsmanship. I especially liked the actor playing the resigned Russian spy. Having said this, the formulaic Hollywood aura surrounding Bridge of Spies keeps me from giving it a top rating. It's obvious that the budget was nearly boundless, which often makes a movie too polished. The all-American righteousness message is also a bit too prominent to my liking, and I've become a bit tired of the Utopian perfect family with bright, beautiful kids and a devoted, loving wife waiting at home for the protagonist in just about every Spielberg flick. But then again, I'm a cynical fart, I'm aware of that. :)
