a review of 金蝉脱壳

I looked forward to seeing my childhood movie heroes Stallone and Schwarzenegger back in Escape Plan. It was nice to see them back, but the movie turned out to be a very predictable experience, filled with yawn-inducing cliches. Escape Plan could have worked if the creators had chosen a clear direction, such as a campy, humorous approach full of references to the 1980s classics of Stallone and Schwarzenegger. But Escape Plan gets stuck in wanting to be a solid, thrilling action flick, and it just didn't work for me. Escape Plan also reminded me that Stallone is a considerably better actor than Schwarzenegger.
