a review of 降临

Arrival is one of the most poetic sci-fi films I've seen. It reminded me of Contact (1997). Arrival's cinematography is beautiful and serene, almost Malick-like. The anachronicity of scenes is used effectively to unveil the emotionally charged story, which is interesting food for thought, despite the seemingly unavoidable plot holes when it comes to time travel (although in the case of Arrival it's not really time travel).
