Watched The Last Video Store with a friend, knowing nothing about it when we started watching. At first, I had to get used to the dry narrative, cheap sets and the awkwardly amateurish acting. But gradually, the film grew on me, and I started appreciating the plethora of references to 1980s pulp horror and action movies. I even laughed out loud a couple of times. The brooding, glitchy retro TV screen and dimension effects were quite nice, pleasantly reminding me of 1980s classics like Poltergeist (1982) and Videodrome (1983).
