A severed hand searching for the rest of its body is certainly an original premise for an animated movie and actually kind of a heatbreaking sight in contrast to the real world plot of this film, which unfolds as a rather conventional drama about an orphaned young man breaking loose from his tough childhood and finding a substitute family... all of that stuff is executed decent enough here but also has been done a thousand times before.
