Snowdance Independent Film Festival. The festival's sensationalistic "not for the faint-hearted"-style marketing for this film really did it a disservice and accordingly, the other viewers i've talked to all dismissed it for being not scary/shocking enough. Really this thing doesn't even set out to be a shocker but is a rather quiet, well-constructed genre hybrid operating on the intersection between indie psychological thrillers and arthouse horror, further elevated by a bunch of great performances, an unconventional neurodivergent protagonist and some really well-done family drama at its core. So far, this has been the biggest surprise to me of the festival. If you like arthouse-y "boring" horror in which "nothing happens", you'll enjoy this one. If you've just come for the thrills and scares, this ain't your kind of film though.
